[edit] Welcome
Welcome to the Open Source Digital Voting (OSDV) wiki, the information source and on-line community platform for the OSDV project. Much of the information here is part of the technical development collaboration between OSDV technical staff, development community, and technical reviewers. However, there is also plenty of background information about the OSDV Project, the OSDV Foundation, and OSDV project activities for OSDV community members who do work outside of the development community.
[edit] Breaking News
Now available: We're pleased to announce the OSDV Project's first prototype of a piece of the OSDV Project voting system, OASES. It is available as source code and as a downloadable LiveCD boot image that you can use to run a demo on your own standard PC hardware. More: SHARP P1 Prototype and Demonstration
[edit] Open Source Digital Voting
OSDV is a collaborative community effort and open source]] initiative that is working to create the first ever trustworthy and reliable voting technology for real use in U.S. elections. The OSDV concept is based on the belief that trustworthy technology for transparent and verifiable elections can only be created by the non-profit efforts of people working the public interest.
The OSDV Project an open source software project that is developing demonstrably trustworthy and reliable election technology, including voting devices, election systems, and voter registration systems. The OSDV Foundation supports the OSDV project, and the efforts of its people. OSDV activities include technical work in various projects in the Labs, and a variety of activities in communication, public relations, government relations, fund-raising, and also operations of the OSDV Foundation. All of these operations are intended to be transparent, documented on this wiki, and open to collaboration and volunteer involvement. This transparency includes, but is not limited to, the process and results of open-source software development in the Labs.
[edit] OSDV Labs and Projects
OSDV Labs is a loose umbrella organization for information sharing and co-ordination between OSDV Projects. Those new to OSDV may want to learn more by starting with any of the following:
- OSDV Overview for Developers
- OSDV Technical Architecture
- Labs Overview
- Master Development Plan
- Technical Background and supporting material for technical activities, including our T-Spec approach, definitions of deliverables and work product, glossary, etc.
Those participating in a project or considering it may want to go straight to the projects listing (though it’s probably a good idea to at least start with a grounding in the technical architecture) to find out more about the technical work being done, to be done, tasks and help wanted, and more.
