[edit] What This Wiki is For
This wiki is the primary means for information exchange and collaboration on OSDV activities, including the various Labs as well as other activities. This wiki is also the primary means of fulfilling a critical goal for how OSDV works: all efforts should be publicly visible and collaborative, in order for OSDV’s results to be open and transparent. This transparency includes, but is not limited to, the process and results of open-source software development in the Labs.
That’s why, in addition to project-related information about the Labs, there is also a fair amount of background info, supporting information, references, and more. Below you'll find a guide to navigating the most of the information in this wiki.
Before you edit or add to this Wiki, please read: Guidelines for OSDV Wiki Contributors.
[edit] OSDV Labs and Development Community
The OSDV Development Community is an open group that anyone can join to help create some critical but currently missing links in how America votes: not only working reference systems that could be used as the basis for electronic election equipment, but also specifications for such systems, guidelines for independent assessment of systems, and recommendations for how such systems can be used to conduct and verify voting activities. The following pages are good entry points into the description of technical work, being done, to be done, tasks with help wanted, and more.
Labs Overview: the starting point for information about each of the technical activities happening in OSDV.
Technical Background: supporting material for technical activities, including our T-Spec approach, definitions of deliverables and work product, glossary, etc.
[edit] Outreach Team and Projects
Voting Background: supporting information on the human activities that our technology is applied to – voting – and how technical requirements are shaped by current practice, history, legislation, and other factors.
Public and Government Relations: information on and tools for outward-bound communication activities, and background on public policy matters that shape our efforts.
Election Observance: Activities to work with county election officials and to observe their activities before and after election day.
[edit] Documents, Resources, and References
Documents: a structured repository of all documents, drafts, and other work product created in the Labs and outward-bound projects, including work product posted for review.
